| 557734 | 2007-06-10 01:54:00 | Hi Heaton. I'm in a club where we run two 29" tvs and a 17" monitor off the one machine and pictures and text are very clear. From memory the tvs have a max refresh rate of 60 and the guy who set it up had to add some gadget to the cabling to boost reception on the second (6 metres away) tv. I'll check the details next time I'm round there. | Scouse (83) | ||
| 557735 | 2007-06-10 02:28:00 | Not at all TEoR. There is no Mac in the 15" size for $1699 which was the price range he was looking in. His budget was between $1500-$1700 for the laptop and a bit extra for extended warranty and Cashbook. I have helped him out with OpenOffice which I also use, Avast, Spybot, Comodo, FF, iTunes and Picasa and will also sort him out with GIMP. He is running XP Pro SP2. I was very happy with his choice. The current 15" MacBook Pro is/was excessively priced at $4500 (yes that is my honest view) It used to be around $3500. The range has recently been updated and reduced in price to $3399 although considering the current exchange rate I believe that Apple NZ could still drop $500-$600 of the price and still do ok since the MacBook Pro 15" is priced from $1999 US. The problem is that they buy from Apple Australia and could do it cheaper if they bought from Apple Canada. So basically from what you are saying is that Macs are excessively over priced for what they are which makes them not worth it? gotcha :D and BTW there is more to a laptop then screen size  ooh my laptops screen is bigger than yours... yeah but my laptop runs faster :D All Apple products = over priced ripoffs :2cents: |

Fortunately it would appear that MacBook Pros have dropped significantly in price after their recent update. Speed wise, the respective laptops on both platforms should be about the same since they both use the same chips and both max out at 2GB of RAM. The variations in operating speed will come down to which platform the application being used is suited to and the task being performed. |

Then what is the advantage of Macs if they are so overpriced? :illogical I know people run OSX and XP on a Mac, but I have not heard of anyone running OSX and XP on a PC... I wonder why...? :D |
