2016-02-05 00:29:00 | You may remember, I installed Windows 10 successfully recently, and after some minor hiccups all was successful . I at that time had wireless internet connection and Homegroup working successfully . Now to my annoyance and aggravation - neither works . :( When I turn Wireless Network Connection (in Settings) on, it is set to 'Off' - and when I change that to 'On', it dithers for a few seconds and then reverts to 'Off' . When I go into 'Airplane mode', it is 'Off' but when I go down to 'Wireless devices', 'Wireless Network Connection' is 'Off' . So then when I move this last to 'On', it also dithers for a few seconds and then reverts to 'Off' . So - to express my current aggravation, WTF do I do now to fix it? Oh, and by the way, I have turned my router off and after the required time, turning it on again - no joy . :(

Generally the FN + one of the keys along the top with a wireless symbol or led. Also in the network adapters, right click make sure its enabled. if it is on go into device manager, expand out the networking, locate the wireless adapter, right click it, uninstall - when asked about keeping /removing drivers ( keep them) reboot, the adapter will automatically reinstall, see if that works. |

2016-02-05 07:20:00 | Yes - I have gone to Device Manager, but no wireless adapter to be seen. I have to confess to going by some instructions I found on the 'Net' - which said: Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools>Computer Management> Services & Applications > Services. Scroll down to WLAN Auto Config. Double click on WLAN Auto Config. on the General Tab, select the start up type drop down menu, select Automatic. Under Service Status click on Start. Then apply these settings and exit from all control panel windows. I did all that - now things are worse that they were. I at least had Ethernet connection before, and now I don't. :( And no Network adaptors. Sorry - I should have waited for you.... Impatience is a trait I have to reluctantly admit to (well, that is what Himself always said). PS. Wireless is actually on.

2016-02-05 07:49:00 | Right - after turning lappy off and on again (the big son always said - it is a good thing to do Mother...) I have Ethernet and wireless internet connection again. Now to test Home group again! Why did it do all that to me? I can't stand five hours of fiddling around to just get onto the Net. :( And Home group is working as well (in spite of the whisky!)

2016-02-05 09:26:00 | Your sons 100% correct. Could have been updates causing the problems, they come through DAILY . Sometimes when they download it plays all sorts of silly buggers, shutting down and restarting installs them and removes any problems ( or creates new ones) ;) | wainuitech (129) | |
