| 1415341 | 2016-02-02 19:44:00 | Hi, I have HP Stream with a 32 GB SSD drive. When I bought it there was some 21 Gb of space. After eight months, this has come down to 2 Gb. I do not store any files on this drive (I have another drive where I store all my files). I have not installed any space heavy applications as well. The only heavy application that is installed is Office. I have done everything I know- run disk clean up, defragment, use CCleaner to remove unnecessary files, deleted all old system restore points etc. But still I am stuck with 2 GB. I think windows is the main culprit here. But I am not sure how to handle it. In fact I am so frustrated that I have actually thought of discarding Windows and installing Linux. It would be very helful if anyone could help me here. |

| 1415344 | 2016-02-02 20:23:00 | I have an acer tablet with 32GB ssd as well, it's almost too small for windows tbh. With windows 8 it had nearly 20GB free but since upgrading to 10 I struggle to keep 8GB free with almost nothing installed. For me it just takes vigilance, and storing all my files on a micro SD card. Does yours have that option? | dugimodo (138) | ||

| 1415346 | 2016-02-02 22:35:00 | You could install windirstat on it to see whats taking up all the space How big is the C:\windows\winsxs folder? That one can get out of control in size . Its over 30Gb on one of the laptops here. Also , what version of Win is it 7, 8, 10 ? |

I have found that W10 is quite compact. have you removed the 'old windows' files? Looks to me that they are still there. |
