Heard many an argument from the fans.....and the media versus literature debate too. As ti which is "proper" and which isn't. en.wikipedia.org Then there is this: en.wikipedia.org More my kind of thing. I count The Martian (book) in the hard SF category. |

| 1409420 | 2015-10-05 21:54:00 | Good, stop being such a tight ass. I went and saw this last night it is a fantastic film. I went with 2D, I'm really not sure what 3D would have added for most of the movie. | Alex B (15479) | ||
| 1409421 | 2015-10-05 21:59:00 | Well things change, those links are about the definition of sci-fi though, I was just talking about where it fits into literary categories and historically I always understood science fiction was always a sub category under fantasy. Nothing to do with what it is, just how it's categorised. I tried to find some evidence to back this up and just discovered that it's a contentious issue :) Anyway, not really important. The important thing is science fiction is better :) |

Felt like I had just wasted my time watching after that last 1/4 of the film. How hard would it have been to come up with a better ending than being stuck in a bookcase via a black hole, just stupid :yuck: |

Went to a SF convention too. Contentious is not the word for it.....it can progress to almost violence and then the specifics of exactly what SF etc....like I said, Hard SF, media SF, whatever.....geez, pretty intense. SF fans are crazy. :-) |

Takes a special kind of person to mix up magic and speculative technology. Anyhow, I read the book in question, I read a few books a week sometimes, It was light weight fluff, with some mumbo jumbo magic thrown in and a slice of gung-ho nonsense. Entertaining, but not great. |
