1415628 2016-02-07 01:35:00 is there a problem with "avast?" -I had trouble updating and then re-installing - gave up in the end, deleted it, would only go/leave in safe mode, then installed "AVG" no problem there. Is there a compatibility problem between anti virus programmes? Oddly, recently "Ad-aware" was being difficult. I deleted all traces then reinstalled. jayal (1291)
1415629 2016-02-07 02:46:00 You should never have two or maoe antivirus programs installed as they often will fight one another and in the end both are not working.

Antimalware programs can generally be combined, but anything that's active all the time can detect other programs as infections.

1415630 2016-02-07 03:01:00 thanks Wainuitech. I guess I should"ve known that, so AVG should be sufficient cover. Any difference between AVG & Ad-Aware jayal (1291)
1415631 2016-02-07 04:24:00 They will be different, but whether one is better than the other???

If you want a good Anti-Virus get Eset Nod32

1415632 2016-02-08 20:10:00 Dont have AV & anti-malware or adaware etc running at the same time

What actually happens is, they both detect the same malware, one will lock it stopping the other from cleaning it & vice versa, so neither can do their job.

Some of the free (and pay) AV programs now try & be all singing all dancing make the coffee type of programs : they really are a mess.
AVG now being one of the more bloated messes.

1415633 2016-02-08 20:50:00 I'd avoid AVG given their history of flagging Windows files as infected.

No problems here with Avast. Have it running on a couple of machines - though I only install the file scanning module and leave the rest out ;)
