1409949 2015-10-16 01:40:00 Many of us have come to know Ascent (http://ascent.co.nz) as being a reliable and favoured online retailer. Me too. And this is just another bit of appreciation for simple and prompt service.

My new camera was ordered only the day before yesterday, and arrived via courier a couple hours ago. And the price? I regard them as a premier supplier, with a slight extra margin thrown in. Well it was advertised on their website at about $30.00 less than Harvey Norman, AND it includes an extended 5 year warranty, AND it includes a free 16GB SD card, AND it includes a purpose-made camera bag, none of which HN offered.

So... happy happy Ascent and thanks to you and your staff.

PS - if anyone's interested - the camera is a Canon Powershot SX610 HS. It has good reviews. But although I've only ever used Canon brand since the digital age because of being familiar with their operations, they've all been damn unreliable this far.

1409950 2015-10-16 18:31:00 Extended warranties are a con, you are covered by the CGA - and better covered considering all the small print in the extended warranties. pctek (84)
1409951 2015-10-16 20:34:00 Yes but not charging you another $99 for the warranty. Had several dealings with them over the years an their service has always been excellent. Clod (7853)
1409952 2015-10-17 03:28:00 Why keep going back to Canon if you find them unreliable?

I personally have only had Fuji cameras for at least 25 years with no problems at all, mainly I went with them to start with as at the time they were the only brand that used standard AA batteries instead of a built in battery.

My current Fuji an S5600 is very reliable even after 10 years of use.

1409953 2015-10-17 07:01:00 Why keep going back to Canon if you find them unreliable?Perhaps you didn't read... "because of [my] being familiar with their operations", ie just using it, and again I like the extended warranty.

They've all been good cameras, and this one has all the bells and whistles. Yeah sure it may die within a few years, but the warranty has me covered.

And hey gary, why would you use such outdated battery technology such as built-in or AA? Hmm.

1409954 2015-10-17 23:41:00 Used to have a canon digital cam, not the flashest, but it was crap. In the end I brought a Panasonic digital / video cam in one.

Small, portable and full HD. I wont be getting another canon cam anytime soon

And yup I dont bother with extended warranties. Waste of money. DSE asked me if I wanted one, when I brought this TV
