559686	2007-06-16 04:24:00	I have an old PC that I tried to start up today but can't get it to work. The thing starts up (ie there's noise), but nothing on screen, and no beeps. Any ideas where to start trying to figure out why it's not working? It's an old Athlon 750Mhz machine - was used regularly (every day) up to about Sept last year, but hasn't been touched since then (my dad's old PC - he got a new one for Father's Day). I've had to resort to a Celeron 700, but I'd rather use the Athlon (as the Celeron doesn't even come close in performance). What could be wrong with the Athlon? Not the RAM (same RAM as is now in the Celeron), not the Video card (same as Celeron), not the HDD (again the same)... even switched the batteries between the two. Any ideas? Cheers, Mike.	Mike (15)
559687	2007-06-16 05:22:00	Try this: With the cmos battery IN and with the wall plug removed, press and hold the power-up button for about 30 seconds ..... This will reset the BIOS to default/fact specs and give you some place to start anyway. Then reboot as normal with the cord plugged into the tower AND the wall..seems normal but I made that clear I think...lol See what happens then.	SurferJoe46 (51)

One of the batteries is fairly new, so shouldn't be the battery. Besides, if the battery was dead, I should still get something on screen, at least to tell me the BIOS had been reset because of a dead battery. I got nothing at all on screen, and no beep. Mike. 559691	2007-06-16 07:39:00	Graphics has died - although you'd still here it load up. PSU has died, enough to prevent it booting. Motherboard has died.	pctek (84)

Motherboard has died.Graphics hasn't died - same card is now in the Celeron, plus it should give an error beep for a video failure. Could be the motherboard or the PSU - there is power there, but who knows how much :) Any way to test whether it's the motherboard? It may be nice to explain what you really mean. Did you replace the Celeron CPU 700 with the Athlon CPU 750? Have you two system boxes? Are you swapping parts from one unit to another? Did you just take the Athlon CPU from the motherboard and try to use this to replace the Celeron CPU? Sorry for being confused.	Sweep (90)
