2007-06-19 11:39:00 | Good evening everyone I am setting up a new pc and have just installed AVG free. I remember reading how to manually update it but cant remember. My old pc has the latest updates on it and as I am on Dial-up it will take forever to download. Can you do the same for Ad Aware? Thanks

Jon - try use your Windows search function to find them. Search for AVG, then use your AVG Update to find the files in that location. I can't recall the folder where they're usually stored, but will post back here again soon. |

2007-06-20 00:24:00 | Go online then start AVG and press F9. This will do an update check and report back what file(s) need(s) to be downloaded to bring your installation up to date. The size of the download will depend on how out-of-date your installation is. | Robin S_ (86) | |
2007-06-20 00:27:00 | NO, no no, you have the choice of how to update, check the settings/properties from control center, select the folder option and point it to a folder of the copied files you have pasted from the update folder under \grisoft\avg\ from the pc that has the updated definitions... | SolMiester (139) | |
2007-06-20 00:38:00 | add to solmiester..... simply copy the old defs from the other pc. you will have to do some searching to find them. | tweak'e (69) | |
2007-06-20 11:15:00 | What you are wanting to do is not quite clear to me, but here is another take. You say that you have installed AVG 7 on the new computer; if you have copied the update files from the old to the new cptr then you will need to establish the full Path to the folder that contains them. In my case this is - Windows\Alluser\Applications\Grisoft\AVG7data\Upd7 bin Yours may be something different but hopefully you can find an Upd7bin folder somewhere. Check that copies of the update files from your old cptr are there. Go to AVG Control Centre and R click on the Update Manager segment, select Properties and check that the 'Don't ask for the update source' box is deselected. Go back to Control Centre and press F9. When it asks for update source select Folder and cursor to - [Whatever-your-path-is]\Upd7bin Click OK the update will procede. Afterwards return to Update Manager, Properties and reselect 'Don't ask for source'.
