560414 2007-06-18 12:21:00 I'm sure I've seen some program that can turn off hdd
so people with HTPC can turn their noisy hdd off during play back of discs or when streaming over network

for me I just need to turn the hdd off on my notebook instantly when I want it to
..trying to save battery life when I'm simply listening to some music off my ram drive

for some reason google failed me or my choice of keywords were bad..
anyone came across one before?

560415 2007-06-18 19:30:00 Are we talking linux or windows?
There is an app in Linux, its called hdparm ... google it :)
However, constantly turning your harddrive on and off can induce more wear on the harddrive than is normal

um.. inducing more wear on hdd..that might be a problem..
maybe I'll only do this when very necessary then..
but still haven't found a program to do this yet...ha
