560857 2007-06-20 04:56:00 Hey . . . look . . some of us LIKE WMP10 . . it floats my boat, does what I want and I like the little album covers too . They go good in my new Sansa c240 .

If we wanted to be chastised for using WMP . . the title of the post might be: "Beat Me, Hurt Me . . . I Use WMP10!" . . . but it didn't say that at all .

All I want is a hint on how to get rid of the OTHER bugger . . . present company included .

You know you can have the little album covers in WMP 11 as well as they get uploaded to my IPAQ when I sync . Cant help you with your problem here though . If you like WMP10, no reason why you should have to upgrade .

560858 2007-06-20 04:58:00 What is actually wrong with wmp 11 as compared to 10?

You say DRM stuff - like what? You can't turn off the updates in wmp 11 either, but you can turn off the other phone-home stuff .

Because a lot of people using Office 2000 and 2003 find that they do all that is required, all staff are happy with the applications and there is no need to "upgrade" to something just because it looks flashy but doesn't offer a greater return on investment.

If they have to upgrade though, what difference does it make? It doesn't cost any more than an older version, and nobody is forcing them to upgrade.

In a few years, sure, support for it will be dropped. Just beacuse your not getting updates for a piece of software doesn't mean its unusable...

I don't think M$ is by any means "forcing" people to upgrade. Any company will always want the consumer to buy newer products.

The main reason for me is the the library in WMP11 suffers from an amazing lack of design. It s very hard to find what you're looking for quickly. sure it looks great, but i don't find it functional.

That is all well and good if your going to get some form of quantifiable benefit from upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007, if not then why upgrade?
Basically it comes down to whether your accountant can see the value in the numbers .
Just because a software company is "telling" you to upgrade doesn't actually mean that you have to upgrade and in the case of MS Office there aren't any better features in 2007 that weren't already in 2003 that your average office worker is going to utilise .

About 90% of the people only use 10% of the features in Word or Excell and that is on a good day . Mostly it is even less than that .

WMP 11 DRMs all songs by default (unless they turned that feature off or something) which includes the ones you rip from a CD .

Your missing the point!!!!! Why would somebody need to upgrade??

And there a few features that are great .

What does that actually mean?

Say for the sake of argument a person had songs ripped from their own CDs, and some d/l music. Saying wmp "drms" these songs means what and affects them how?

I'm not missing any point. If you don't need to upgrade you stay on 2003 or 2000 for as long as technically possible - the only catch with that is that MS won't be making any money out of supporting you which is bad for their business.

By your ability to "share" them with other people, like when you let someone "borrow" a CD of songs that you have burnt from WMP11 the DRM will limit what you can do with those songs. There has been a few articles written about the DRM limitations of WMP11
