561387 2007-06-21 13:00:00 if the tv has audio input through rca cable
then you plug in the white plug

and I guess if you're sitting far from tv you can't here the difference between whether it's only playing the right channel or the left..so just pick one

a proper down mix to mono might not be very necessary..

561388 2007-06-21 20:51:00 How are you connecting the media center audio to the TV?
3.5 to 2 RCA?

If so just get an adaptor that takes 2 RCA and outputs to one.
This will mix the left & right channels making it mono.
You can also get 3.5 stereo to 1 mono RCA cables.

The other option to try is in the Control Panel under Sound & Audio Devices, click the Advanced button under Speaker Settings. There is an option for Laptop mono speaker.
Try that and see if it works.
