562435 2007-06-25 08:55:00 Also, if can any one tell me what brand of router/modems each of the major ISP's offer with them plans (i know telecom uses d-link and telstra uses dynalink, what brands does slingshot, orcon, xnet, ihug, actrix etc use?)

I called Slingshot the other day, was told they use a Dynalink RTA1320.

562438 2007-07-04 10:28:00 I have used XNET for a few months now. Good, friendly help desk, price is very reasonable. Never had any trouble logging on, and I stay on. My son, despite my slating xtra, still hangs onto that ISP and drop outs, has trouble logging in, if he has been dropped off, and generally seems to be forever pulling his hair out with annoyance over xtra's service. :annoyed: Cannot figure how they keep most of their customers...but they do???

I use a Billion 7100S for single service and find it bomb proof. Simple, efficient, effective. Billion have router version which I am sure would be bomb proof too and should serve what you need.

I suggest you try XNET. Their tolls (World Exchange) are cheap too. XNET is part of World Exchange, but you don't have to join World Exchange to join XNET or visa versa.:D

XNET have no fees to join or leave, well, that was a few months ago. Anything changed?

Go visit XNET site and have a good think

Cheers

None. You have the freedom to buy the exact modem or router you require.

562440 2007-07-05 06:10:00 And you aren't stuck in a contact, if you try xnet and hate it, you can leave, with no costs involved. I mean after a month, two months, whatever. Aren't the others, ie xtra, slingshot, clear etc all contracted for 1 year?

I am with xnet, and wouldn't change. The other thing I love about it, is when you get to your limit, you are just taken back to dialup speed, not charged extra.

AND... if you don't use up all your cap, you only get charged for what you use!

562442 2007-07-05 20:38:00 Hi Guys

I'm with Actrix. They have a data cap but it is on a daily basis so once you have downloaded your daily limit you go down to dial speed. Then next day you are back to your normal bb speed. !

I think that is better than a monthly system.

I don't have to wait long for their live help desk.

562443 2007-07-06 06:40:00 Depends if you want quality or cheap. I am with telstra and its great. High end On line gaming and it doesn't meet a beat. Actually my son and I are on at the same time on online gaming and my wife doing research in the UK all at the same time, not a problem. I have a 4 PC network. If you go over the limit its only $2.75 per gb extra. Chicken feed. Telecom would charge $29.00.

Telstra is the best.
