563867 2007-06-28 01:57:00 Last year we got a Video camera (the first one we have every had) (it’s only a Sony Handycam (Hi8)

In May of this year we had some family over from the UK & while they where here I did a bit of recoding & Now I have got about 3, 4 GB video files.

What I like to do is make a DVD disk showing there time here in New Zealand, complete with photos from there trip.

What Video Editing software do you recommend? That I can use to do this? (I am running Win XP Pro with SP 2)

Thanks in advise :)

I have use in the past Windows Movie Maker to do Videos that’s I have posted on the web, but I don’t think it will be up to doing this?

563870 2007-06-28 02:12:00 Nerovision will do both add video and pics. And menus for a DVD.

Only thing is, the DVD option may need the plugin / a serial, so u can use it.

There are others (Ulead etc), not too sure if they'll let u add photos as well tho.

I've never used them, or installed them.

How does it connect?? USB 2? Firewire? Other?

563871 2007-06-28 02:32:00 I personally use Vegas, that is rather expencive though.. if all you want is basic stuff, a combo of Nero and Windows movie Maker (cant believe I said that) will do the job fine.. if you want to pay through the nose for something thats good, Avid Dv, Vegas, Adobe Premiere and ULead Video Studio are ones to look at, for free, here (www.pcmech.com) are a bunch of decent ones (bottom of page). wratterus (105)
563872 2007-06-28 02:35:00 Ulead will let you do almost anything I think. I use it all the time for video editing though I've never added photos but mind you I got it free with my PC. beeswax34 (63)
563873 2007-06-28 02:42:00 I have only used ULead very briefly, but what u said about it sounds good... it isn't actually too expencive.. on pricespy you can pick version 9 up for under $200. wratterus (105)
563874 2007-06-28 02:55:00 Or bring the cam here, if youre near Mt Eden. I'll do it for you.

Hopefully, its got USB2 (which maybe a bit slow), or firewire (which would be faster / better).

Only thing is, not all burned DVD's play on all standalone DVD players.

563876 2007-06-28 03:18:00 As the Video camera runs on tape, I have been recording the video to my laptop via a TV tuner (The TV tuner is a Leadtek Winfast TV USB II Deluxe box) stu161204 (123)
