It is doable in firefox, but i haven't done it since firefox was firebird, so help would be appreciated

Yes io know tools -> options -> content

but is there a way i can do it on a per page basis

I guess you could create a Bookmarklet which hides all images on your page
but..you still have to load the page first then hide the images
and once you hide it the only way to get it back is to refresh the page
