562880 2007-06-25 11:27:00 OK, only the second time I even open Calc and found its missing something I use all the time in Excel - I have a VB *.xla addin I got somewhere that converts degrees minutes and seconds to decimal degrees and vice versa.

I know it can't be hard to write, but its beyondme.

Calc can't import *.xla files so all my spreadsheets using angles (I have a lot - I'm a surveyor) are useless unless I find a replacement. Anone know how?

Well why not use Linux, Mac for O/S
Then use the application?
Then go back to Excel.

He already bought a PC laptop Linux would be a possible alternative.

562884 2007-06-25 21:08:00 Thanks - I know how to convert them (not much of a surveyor if I didn't), but I have spreadsheets that I have to enter hundreds of bearings and/or coordinates in. It then manipulates the information and provides an output. The spreadsheet cannot manipulate raw dms style bearigs or coords. It need decimal degrees - Manually calculating all of the decimal degrees before entry would partially negate the purpose of having a spreadsheet (save time and remove manual calcs).

And no I am not changing my OS so I can do this. That is ridiculous.

562885 2007-06-25 21:29:00 Best bet might be to wander about here (http://www.ooomacros.org/) and ask in the forums.

If someone hasn't done it already, you could probably get help adapting the excel macro.

562888 2007-06-26 04:35:00 Are u aware that you can record yr own macros in OOo ?I am not sure but I think it is possible to record a macro that does what you want then apply it to the whole spread sheet or the cells that u will want it in.It is also possible on the link given earlier to explain what you are wanting to do and someone will write one for you.I have some that are not simple on spreadsheets that were done in this way.
Not sure on this one but maybe if you load a working exel spreadsheet in OOo then delete the input and keep it as a template it may do what u want.
