563195 2007-06-26 11:50:00 sorry when i said not connecting the CPU i meant not connecting it with power

Sorry. I would like to try and help as others here would.

Possibly there is a difference between what you say and what others comprehend.

Now you say that you have not connected the CPU with power.

Could you please explain where you are up to now?

I hope to help you.

563196 2007-06-26 12:04:00 cool thanx, i think what others have said is what i should go ahead and try, split my 8pin into 4pin and connect it to my mobo. isnt the function of that 4pin plug to provide the cpu with power?

im not near my rig at the moment ill post results asap cheers

You have that correct except that the resultant 4 pin will plug into the motherboard rather than the CPU.

Yes.
Go do it.

Its the new thing on PSUs to have the 2 4pins joined into 8.

My new one confused me for a second too while I ignored it and hunted for the 4pin connector.

563199 2007-06-27 05:51:00 thanx guys im done up to the bit where i have to insert boot cd, i have one last question though, im using the TT big typhoon and it took me ages to get it installed properly, all 4 pin are down and locked in position, still the huge heatsink is slightly wobble if i nudge it, not a huge wobble but only a tiny bit i thought the heat sink was suppose to have a solid fix onto the mobo?

cheers
