| 563125 | 2007-06-27 08:19:00 | MS Office is also covered under the agreement where Office for Mac is currently not and may have to be paid for. All copies of Office on a Mac licienced under the agreement are technically supposed to be uninstalled (ya right!). The software stated to be free on a Mac is the old version of the software and in the case of one of the schools I manage have purchased the latest version. PC's will be cheaper to purchase than a Mac. In the case of MS office for Mac as was reported in the press just recently, although not totally ideal there is Open office for Mac which I would have thought should be sufficient for 12 year olds to learn on?? Thanks for the info. :) |

| 563126 | 2007-06-27 08:26:00 | Please do research before opening mouth. Tiger was released before the mac went intel This is what I was basing my comment on. " Tiger is also the first version of any released Apple operating system to work on Intel's x86 platform, though it is only intended to operate on Apple-Intel architecture machines such as the iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook, Intel Mac Mini and Mac Pro.":) Care of Wiki. |

It runs perfectly fine on a G4 in fact I say it runs better then panther does on a G4 |

| 563128 | 2007-06-27 08:46:00 | That would be because you went in and bought it from the shop. I didn't say I was correct I just said that that was the impression I was under since I am using an Intel iMac running 10.4 |

| 563129 | 2007-06-27 08:47:00 | OK but it runs on both Intel and PPC quite happily. Still would be pretty slow on a G4 eMac. Utter garbage, you really do post some unreliable comments. The Apple specs for 10.4 are - Mac OS X Version 10.4 requires a Macintosh with: PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor At least 256MB of physical RAM It runs fine on a G4 even with only 256MB ram although it helps to have more. |

Yeah well perhaps you should only make comments about things you have personal experience of instead of plucking them out of thin air. Don't you have enough to do, your daily post count is over 13 Jeez even Metla is only just over 4 per day. |

| 563133 | 2007-06-27 09:46:00 | It is too early to be deploying Vista in any serious manner - wait and see what issues other people have first! OS X has to be a more reliable and stable platform. | johnd (85) | ||
| 563134 | 2007-06-27 10:34:00 | You do make stupid statements winmacguy. I've been running Vista on a notebook (1GB/2GHz, 128MB shared graphics) quite reliably for the last few months, and I don't just surf the net and check emails, this is in a full studio environment (advertising). I usually have several browsers open (Opera, Firefox, IE7), a few apps from the CS3 suite running, a few other various apps running like Thunderbird and occasionally a VPC session (XP Pro), and although it's not the fastest machine in the office, I'm never 'waiting' and have always found it very capable. Don't worry, my next notebook is definitely going to be a Mac, but I won't be rolling 10 posts a day here evangelising/defending it all over the place. There's no need to. |
