2007-06-25 07:00:00 | Hi all. I've bought the above as a replacement for Norton's. Just started to install it, and it wants me to uninstall Spybot / AdAware and disable Windows Firewall. Presumably because it brings its own programmes to the table. Getting rid of Spybot and AdAware gives me the sh.....gives me cause for concern. You guys agree it's all kosher to do? Before I do! Cheers AB

2007-06-25 07:08:00 | It probably doesn't like the competiton. I'd stick with the Spybot/AdAware/Comodo/Avast combo myself considering it is all Free and does a good job (that is what I have installed on my Windows XP Pro running under Parallels. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-06-25 07:13:00 | Well I would disable XP's firewall since it'll install a firewall and they'll clash if u dont. It must have some kind of spyware protection in the install why it said to kill Spybot. Dont know if this means just to quit it which wont hurt it, since it wont be running. Or coz Spybot is running atm. Spybot doesnt do a hell of a lot anyway.

2007-06-25 07:17:00 | Thanks guys. The pack does have the "removes and blocks spyware and rootkits" feature. So I guess it's ok to let it remove Spybot and Adaware.... Guess we'll soon see....:D

2007-06-25 08:04:00 | There's no harm in removing them and perhaps reinstalling them later on once you get Trend-Micro going . If it lets you install them, that is . . . It is normal for it to disable the Windows firewall, just be disconnected from the internet whilst it's installing itself .

You thought updates for Windows was bad! And a spare partition/hdd for XP/2K/Vista/x64 updates. Stuffed if I'm getting them again if I have to format. |
