564162 2007-06-29 00:20:00 I have in the last week or so replaced my computer less keyboard, mouse, printer & monitor. The processor is an Intel dual core 2.0 GB. I am continuing to use WinXP. I have reloaded software, and loaded data by inserting the old HDD and transferring data (in separate partitions). I have tried to upgrate IE6 to IE from both the MS site, and from a PCWorld disk. The files both have the same name (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu). they appear to install OK, but when opening either version the machine freezes, and can only be freed by using task manager (processes). There is nothing showng in task manager (applications). It seems that I may have an incompatibility? Can anyone help?

564163 2007-06-29 00:27:00 When u say u reloaded the software, did u do a clean install?

I take it u replaced the motherboard as well??

If u did, I would do a clean install. (If you didnt do this).

564164 2007-06-29 03:35:00 Yes it was a new motherboard, Ram, Hdd, Dvd writer, even case & power supply. I installed IE7 over IE6, is that likely to be the problem?

564165 2007-06-29 03:43:00 No but if u didnt do a clean install / or repair after u replaced the mobo, this could cause probs. Speedy Gonzales (78)
564166 2007-06-29 06:40:00 what speedy means is that you should have done a clean install of windows, having done that (not that i did and i'm fine), i'd suggest you switch browser.

ie7 is just a cheap ripoff of firefox, so unless there's a good reason to stick to ie, i would (and have) switch to firefox :2cents:
