Other than that most things tend to work ok with modern linux releases.
USB and PCMCIA and even the touchpads work straight off the install.
Its always a good idea to run the LiveCD of your chosen Distro first - just to see if anything doesnt work.

564132 2007-06-29 10:51:00 Everything just worked out of the box for my IBM T22 - including my PCMCIA wireless card. Installed and working in about 20 minutes with all your software ready to go. johnd (85)

Format.
Simple.

One presumes that you can remove the hidden partition for recovery.
Without third party software?

Or do without the hidden partition maybe?

Format what? Format C:\ may work. What about partitions?

If I paid for a desktop with maybe 2 x 200 Gig hard drives I would just partion to suit myself. I would also insist on other items.

I take it you do KNOW about hidden partitions?

If I bought a Dell with a 80 Gig hard drive I may well wonder why 8 Gigs have wandered off.

Must be do-able.

So which Linux Distribution should I use? And why?

Every Linux install CD will have a Partition editor as part of the install wizard.
It WILL see all of the hard drive/s including any hidden partitions and let you delete / create partitions as you see fit.

564136 2007-06-30 01:09:00 Hi Sweep, try PC Linux, it's so good, runs sweet, found everything on my Acer laptop and I have had no problems what so ever.
