564575 2007-06-30 06:30:00 Hi there!
I've PC with Win XP home sp2, AOpen AK73 Mobo, 750 MHz CPU, 512 MB RAM and NVIDIA GA-GF1280 graphic card. Installed the latest graphic card driver as well. Trying to use S Video output to play PC game on TV. On the graphic card l've set jumpers in PAL mode as the manual said, but no picture.
Any ideas?

Thanks

564576 2007-06-30 06:34:00 hmm,

OK so when you plug the s-video cable into your computer and into the tv you then need to change the output mode for your display card. Typically to do this you can right click on your desktop and change the output to mode from the display menu. Normally playing games through s-video will be pretty jumpy and for best results you should use a VGA cable. However only later model LCD and Plasmas will have that port.

For a quick rundown take a look at this page from the Microsoft site: www.microsoft.com

Hope that helps.

564577 2007-06-30 07:13:00 Just as long as u configure it properly thru right mouse properties / settings on the desktop, it shouldnt be a prob.

I use a s-video to RCA adapter to the RCA plugs on the TV.

Its good enough. Got the video going to video and the sound going to audio in on the TV / stereo.

564578 2007-06-30 07:26:00 my s-video cable also has a yellow video plug coming off of it too. My tv doesn't have s-video input, can I plug in just the yellow cable? I tried it out and I couldn't get a picture. Is there something in my settings I should adjust? I have an nvidia go 7600...

thanks~

564579 2007-06-30 07:42:00 You'll need the adapter (as u say may have come with the videocard, and then a long RCA cable, so you can plug it into the adapter and into the back/front of the TV).

You dont have to use the s-video from the videocard to the TV.

Depending on which RCA connection you plugged it into on the TV, you have to switch the TV to VCR/Video/whatever to get the signal.

And right mouse / properties / settings, on the desktop.

You have to enable TV out here somewhere.

I cant remember where it is in the settings now. For the Nvidia drivers. I used to use Nvidia videocards, but their drivers got crappier. So, changed to ATI cards.

Ok, guys! That's it!
Giving up.
After browsing Nvidia control panel found tabs to activate additional display, tv. But the nvidia driver can't detect my TV. Svideo input on tv is ok, works with dvd player. My TV is Panasonic and big and old.
Must get a new TV, PC or graphic card.

Thanks for all comments.

564582 2007-07-01 06:19:00 there should be an option to force detection of a TV so it will enable the TV out even if it doesn't detect a TV. Greven (91)
