565319 2007-07-03 06:38:00 Dodgy problem with my video card Asus ATI 9250 GE.
I'm using an old Auriga 17" monitor for more than 5 years, the problem is the monitor looks like it got problems showing bizzar image, i.e. like a TV is going to die kinda problem.
I normally use the blue port(VGA port) and got problems with it, and now I'm using the white port(DVI port) with the converter on it and it is just fine.

I tried it on a laptop using it on a VGA port it never have a problem with it.

I also tried it on my new Samsung 226BW 22" monitor using the VGA connector and it is just fine. Maybe it didn't afftect the LCD screens. But in my household most monitors are LCD and that's the only CRT left which is ready to retire after years of serving.

Is it my graphics card problem? Because I can really figure out the problem. I also try degauss and still having the same problem.:help:

I will appreciate to anyone who is trying to some give advice.

565320 2007-07-03 10:12:00 You have a 22" Samsung and a 9250?? What are you thinking? Buy a proper graphics card immediately.
:p

Well if the problem is just with the old CRT, who cares? Use the Samsung.
And what exactly is a TV die kinda problem.
Describe the screen effect properly.

565321 2007-07-03 13:52:00 I would likely say your old monitor is on the way out if its the only one that is giving your troubles. In saying that is it a constant problem ie always showing a bad image or is it random in its occurrence? d1esel (12498)

Couldn't have said it better myself... bit like using a V8 as a golf buggy to get around the course.

Definitely ditch the 9250 for sure.

Cheers

Shouldn't it be more like driving a golf buggy in a V8 Supercars race?

565324 2007-07-04 10:49:00 Thank you all for your effort, today I took it to my course training and replace that graphics card and test it on the CRT and it is just fine.
Yeah, looks like my old 17" Auriga is retiring early after years of serving my household constantly for about 5 years .
Any recommendation for another old 17" CRT monitor around for cheap price?

And yes, my Samsung 22" 226BW LCD hates all my home graphics card the most powerful one is the ATI 9550 GE. :annoyed: Too bad on the 22nd July I have to feed it with a X2900XT and make it happy. The screen resolution looks real bad with 1024X768 but with 1600X1020 is fine.

And where can I get the Sapphire X2900XT 1GB GDDR4 in NZ? Not even on the pricespy.co.nz

Thank you again.

I wouldn't . Haven't you read anything on ATIs latest cards? They all suck extremely .
They lost this round . Get Nvidia this time, and wait until next time for ATI .

Why bother getting another CRT?
But if you must theres a million cheap as dirt on TM .

The CRT mon is for this sys:
P4 1.6GHz
200GB HDD PATA
300W PSU
P4S333 old 423 pin P4 CPU
756MB RAM
ATI 9250GE
Floppy Drive
etc.

You can see that I'm using it for a grandpa system not my Pedal to the metal system.

X2900XT got good deals like Black box coming together.

Bad? Everyone have 8800 series, so why not have a X2900XT system instead. Besides I wanna watch some new ATI demos at full resolution.
