564823 2007-07-01 10:46:00 Am trying to convert a avi file to dvd formate and Winavi still works on some files but on some files is coming up with error. Is there another free converter that is worth looking into? falcon (3689)
564824 2007-07-01 12:55:00 AVI2DVD is quite good but I can't remember if it is free or not. It's the old story though - you get what you pay for.
Most freeware multimedia apps tend to have serious shortfalls.

564826 2007-07-01 21:05:00 Give DVDflick a go as I have found you end up with a better quality product in the end ,have written heaps of RW's comparing them, have tried Winavi and I don't know why everyone raves about it because it is inferior in my mind Lawrence (2987)
564827 2007-07-01 23:09:00 What software came with your DVD writer? If you have Cyberlink's PowerDirector or Powerproducer these work fine (I think Powerproducer works stand-alone - I use PowerDirector to edit the file and it uses Powerproducer to process the file). You can download a trial version from www.cyberlink.com and try it.
Nero (full version) also is supposed to work but I have found that it ceates lip-synch problems which are really annoying.

Well this maybe depend on the system you're doing it on, how you did the AVI, (if u did the AVI file), and maybe what codecs are installed (if whatever needs them).

The only program I've used, is Nerovision. Which converts to DVD format, once u burn AVI (and other video formats) to DVD. Never had a prob doing video files this way.

564829 2007-07-02 23:33:00 I didn't do the AVI file(s). I used Nerovision to convert to DVD and the sound was about 30 seconds out of time with the video (on more than one AVI). The avi files play sweet on the PC and PowerProducer makes a dvd file that plays in synch on the same PC so I don't know the answer but I no longer use Nerovision for this task. andy (473)
