565187 2007-07-05 18:58:00 Ok, I didn't want to instigate an argument (or inflame it) but as I noted at the very beginning I already have a monitor - that is indeed pretty large (20").

I do not anticipate that I will have any problem running the monitor off low-end graphics (whether that's integrated or a cheap card) seeing as I am now running it off an atrociously underpowered laptop without any trouble.

Thanks for peoples' comments - what I will most likely do is get integrated graphics (seeing as it should provide just about as good performance as a low-end card), perhaps the one suggested by Pete.

That'll save me enough money to double the harddrive. I will have to fork out a little extra to get a bigger case...although I still have to choose one!Don't worry, it often happens on here when people don't know what they are talking about :p

No, you won't have any issue at all.

Intergrated will be fine and will save money :D

Yes, more HDD is always better :D

Oh an it might be better to get 2 sticks or RAM so you can use Dual Channel.

565188 2007-07-06 06:27:00 :) I'm happy at what you've write. Go get in the actual plane.

Color qualities will affect from weak graphics card? Mr. Know it all?
There will be no problems with "colour qualities", and yes i know more than you. And what makes me even more awesome than you is i can speak english

Don't worry jackwass! PedalSlammer is a stupid n00b who likes to spam up thread where people ask for hardware recommendations. He doesn't actually know anything but thinks he does.

565189 2007-07-10 23:23:00 Thanks to everyone's help I've settled on this (modified) setup:

Asus M2A-VM HDMI
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz
Seagate Barracuda ST3250623AS 250GB
Asus DRW-1814BL DVD Writer
A-Data 2x1GB DDR2-800

Is the following a decent case? Somebody recommended Raidmax and this seems to have got decent reviews - either way it is not micro-sized and it's 500W.

Raidmax O2 302 Pure Colour ATX Mid Tower Case, 500W PSU, Black

This would come to just over $750, which I don't think is too bad.

565190 2007-07-11 02:49:00  Ha screwing up the threads? More like comments spam. I did said low-end cards can run at 1680X1020 but with enough memory and most cards did anyway. Not for gaming, but of course no one is gonna buy a big 22" since they're getting a decent PC.

Maybe you should built a $500 PC with cheap CRT monitor. Oh yeah, $1 for 17" inch CRT at TM sometimes. I wish I can have 17" CRT monitor from TM, but I already have a monitor.

That system looks fine Jackwass, as long as the case is full ATX and you like its aesthetics then it should be fine. pctek seems to be keen on Raidmax PSU's and they seem to have good specs for their price, a 500w Raidmax should be more than sufficient for your PC :)
