566032 2007-07-05 07:28:00 sorry to bother you guys but i have a problem with a new harddrive i bought i mean i couldnt pass up the sale so i bought a 250gb ata hdd for $50, but thats not the point, here is my problem i installed the hdd where my old one used to be well to be exact my old slave drive, well it doesnt show up on "my computer" but it does show up in device manager and speed fan picks it up also:confused: , but i was wondering if anyone here had some advice or tricks for me to do to be able to use this hdd. i really want to install vista on this one so i can use it and have my sister use the other hdd with xp. deathracer (11825)
566033 2007-07-05 07:43:00 If this 250 GB is jumpered as slave and theres another hdd as Master, go to control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management.

It should be here as unallocated. Right mouse on it / new partition / format.

ok i just tried that but it only shows up on the bottom section not the top where i can have the option to format or partion, it shows up at the bottom with everything else and gives me the option to convert to dynamic disk. ill try and explain how i have it connected, i have an sata as my master and then i have my dvd drive as i guess second master or something cause thats what i have connected firs on my ata cable or whatever that old cable is called then i have my new hdd as a slave. sorry if i confused you.

edit- thanks a lot i just figured it out.
