| 565896 | 2007-07-05 03:21:00 | I thought I would post this again without the mistakes as I would like some feedback. A problem on a friends PC running XP & an hp desktop 3820 printer. Both had been running happily together for several Months. The PC lost coms with the printer. Still accepted documents & stored them in the queue. No faults or errors came up & was still shown as default printer. Reinstalled the drvs & it worked fine until next start-up, then had the same problem. The hp 3820 is both parallel & USB so I changed to USB & the problem went away. I did have to reinstall the drvs though. USB did detect the printer but I still had to lead it to the correct drvs. Curious as to whether the fault was with the printer or the pc. Tried the printer on a different XP PC with parallel, no probs. Tried a different printer on original PC with parallel, no probs. Still none the wiser, any ideas? |

Can't find the option now as it was a while ago, may have been "use offline". The same as your symptoms, worked after a uninstall and reinstall but stopped again after a reboot. This issue was on XP and it was a simple click of the mouse to fix. The printer just reported to be offline. | berryb (99) | ||
