565567 2007-07-04 01:07:00 Hey all,
Recently I had a problem with sending mail in Thunderbird but have just sorted that out - turned out my user name had to be entered in twice:illogical
Anyway, I'm not able to click on web links in emails and get them to automatically open a window or tab in Firefox? Also if I click on the help menu for 'Mozilla Thunderbird Help' it fails to open any new window either.
I've been through the options setup but found nought relevant.

Must be a simple fix though. Please let me know what needs doing.

Cheers,
-John.

565569 2007-07-04 02:06:00 I find it hard to believe that it isn't possible for Thunderbird to open a link in Firefox simply by clicking on it:illogical It's pretty useful to be able to do when you are subscribed to a thread in a forum etc... Johnnz (7246)
565570 2007-07-04 02:08:00 I think it is pretty standard in most email programs that you don't click on the url in the email but copy paste it into your web browser. winmacguy (3367)
565571 2007-07-04 02:30:00 I could've sworn I'd done that in outlook express to open explorer  Johnnz (7246)
565572 2007-07-04 02:38:00 You probably did but it is not the best way to do it. winmacguy (3367)
565573 2007-07-04 03:21:00 Not sure on the cure but it is to do with file associations in either TB or FF.
It is normal for FF to open a link clicked in TB.There is also a cure which needs a bit of tweaking in TB.Someone will come along with the solution.I find it hard to believe the previous posts.

565574 2007-07-04 08:58:00 Is it because its not safe or is it just a functionality problem? beeswax34 (63)
565575 2007-07-04 09:00:00 I find it hard to believe the previous posts.

So do I.

It appears to me that the default is that the URLs are "clickable" and there are no settings to set.

Works fine for me in ver. 1.5.0.12

565576 2007-07-04 09:27:00 I see there are a few people reporting this.

Try doing this as it appears to have worked for this person: Comment #28 (bugzilla.mozilla.org)

Let us know how you get on.
