| 566255 | 2007-07-06 01:37:00 | I would say you'll have to figure out which version Of XP works This: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn Or this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect Is the space between Micro and soft in boot.ini as well?? I think the first one should be the other way round: /noexecute=optin /fastdetect - what it shows on here. Not: /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn Dont know if it makes any diff. I would also make sure this: default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S <-- is WINDOWS no space between W and S |

I'm assuming xp has been re-installed alongside the other version. Very messy. I'll try modifying the boot.ini on a floppy boot disc & see what happens. I can boot into a F promp but can't get to a C promp. |

| 566257 | 2007-07-06 09:39:00 | No go. Ive tried various mods to the boot.ini but still get the same error. Just have to wait for that optical drive but Ive got a feeling there's still going to be problems. I tried that bootmaster filerecovery program. It wouldnt change anything without paying for it but it did let me see the contents of the HD. Ive got an adapter comming that will allow me to slave the HD to a desktop pc, so that may tell me something. As a last resort I'll reformat & do a clean install. Thanks for you help guys. |
