| 566805 | 2007-07-07 11:49:00 | I have a game that opens a web page whenever I quit. Is there any way I can block that app from opening the web page? I currently have a pop-up blocker program, which blocks the site, but IE still opens. I would like to stop IE from being opened by this game altogether. Is this possible? Both Win XP and Vista. Mike. |

And in Vista, UAC should handle it, asking if you would like to continue or something. Maybe you should just check what privileges are given to that program and see if Vista can't block it itself. |

Will this Comodo block automatically, or will I always need to hit Deny? And in Vista, UAC should handle it, asking if you would like to continue or something. Maybe you should just check what privileges are given to that program and see if Vista can't block it itself. UAC doesn't pop up - it just opens IE automatically. Not too sure how to set privileges to block it from opening IE - I still want the game to run, just don't want it to open IE when I exit it. Thanks, Mike. |

Altho some programs when u uninstall them do exactly the same thing . So u can give feedback . I think Opera does it, its annoying! FF also gives u the option but doesnt go to the site until u tick the option . |

Or just block the game from opening the browser after I quit? I need the game to be able to access the net. Mike. |

| 566810 | 2007-07-08 04:02:00 | It's the Comodo Firewall program. After you install it it will intercept each attempt to access the internet and ask to you "allow" or "deny". You can tick a box to make it save your answer. Any firewall program will do the same, but with Comodo you will find that lots of applications try to use programs such as Internet Explorer (which you will have "allowed") to acess the internet. Comodo shows you the "parent" application and provides details so that you can determine that it is not malware using IE to phone home before you "allow". You will be able to prevent the game using IE, but allow the game, and IE itself to connect. It is an excellent program, but I would steer clear of their anti-virus program as it can cause big problems and is impossible to completely uninstall. |

I will be very surprised if it can prevent your game from opening your browser when you quit the game. There is, however, only one way to find out for sure and then we will all know. ;) |

A firewall could stop the browser connecting to the game's website, but it wouldn't stop it opening in the first place. Perhaps there is a game setting in the registry that could be changed (??) |
