| 566744 | 2007-07-07 08:29:00 | Hi all, i put in another mother board into case to upgrade it a bit, [my spare pc] its not new, its a pent 3 cpu in it, but it was working fine before, i connected everything up and then BIOS couldn't detect the hardrive at all, it see's the cdrom ok, but not the hardrive, after swapping cables it didn't make any differance, so i tried differant electrical connections still no hardrive shows, so i manually entered the spec's in the BIOS, still nothing, i tried another hardrive still no good. So i tried placing the jack on the back of the hardrive in differant positions, i put it in the middle of them and it showed up as primary hardrive, thought i had it , kicked it over again, nothing shows up again, tried a few more times nothing comes up again, so i move the jack again and now it comes up as the primary slave every time. I have ran out of ideas, any thoughts any one ? thanks |

Not all IDE devices, will work, (or get detected), when jumpered to cable select. Then go into the BIOS, whatever IDE conn you put it on, put it on AUTO in the BIOS (under primary or secondary). Press enter then esc. See if the brand/model of the hdd appears. If it appears. Save settings then reboot. Is anything else on the same IDE connection as this hdd, or will it be by itself? |
