2007-07-06 17:36:00 | I have 2 linux OS's.When I booted up this morning my mouse lights up until after the BIOS flash then goes out and does not work once I get the OS loaded. This is in both OS's and makes no difference if I change the mouse. Also in at least one OS the sound card also is not detected.I am now running off my bootable DVD linux disk and all is working.Mouse was detected and works no prob and sound is on. | kjaada (253) | |
2007-07-07 06:40:00 | Mouse is detected and the appropriate driver "should be in" the kernel. Xorg takes over serving pointer functions when you start the gui. If your mouse does not work properly, try recompiling the kernel. Better still, find out what its kernel driver is and make sure that is built when you recompile the kernel.

2007-07-07 17:25:00 | Why would something happen to the kernel in 2 different systems on seperate HDD's | kjaada (253) | |
2007-07-07 22:17:00 | try this Compare the two Xorg.conf files between the livecd and your installed os (I think they are in /etc/Xorg/) That may shead some light on the source of the problem. Then if you like you can change one to match the other, But only the mouse section. Good luck

2007-07-08 01:11:00 | The xorg.conf file can be found in /etc/X11/. When you say 'BIOS flash' do you mean the POST, or have you actually flashed the BIOS? If so, why?

2007-07-08 01:40:00 | I have now done a clean install on one HDD and updated etc and all is 100%.Will deal with the other HDD later but I still can not understand how 2 OS's on seperate HDD's could get upset in the same way. | kjaada (253) | |
