566269 2007-07-05 23:28:00 my problem is the windows update, i don't know why but some updates that i downloaded couldn't be installed. Well they can be installed but the installation failed or something, after your windows update have been installed ur computer will notify you, and when i checked some updates failed to install and i try to check for updates again but it says your computer is up to date. What do i do to update the files that failed? Is there a way i can download updates using a program or something because i know for windows xp u can download the whole SP2 patch and update it offline.

also is there a way to uinstall updates that i dont want? I tried going to installed updates but it only shows updates for Microsoft, i wanna remove updates for other hardwares but it doesn't show.

566270 2007-07-05 23:57:00 Click on the entries that show failed and it'll show a link. Click on the links and download the updates manually.

Check and see if there's an option like XP / show updates.

Altho not all hardware entries would be in the same place as the programs that have been installed would they??

566271 2007-07-06 01:13:00 ok i clicked some of the failed updates and downloaded it manually, but all the ones i downloaded couldn't be installed as it kept showing the message "this update does not apply to your system" or something like that.....i don't get it, what's so different between Vista Starter and the rest of the versions? I remember the updates were installed successfully on my Ultimate and Home Premium, so why doesn't Starter install it too?

And even if the updates couldn't be installed because i use the Starter version, some other optional updates such as my ethernet card (Realtek RTL8139/810x), that's a pretty important update to me as it might make my internet go a bit faster since it updates the card itself....i dunno, i just thought maybe the updates should be installed or else it shouldn't even search for updates that isn't designed for this version.

566272 2007-07-06 01:27:00 Most probably because the Starter Edition is limited, and doesnt have as many features as Ultimate or Home, or any of the other versions.

Thats the reason why you can use it with 256 MB, it can only support up to 1 GB, and u can only run 3 apps at a time.

I doubt the LAN would make u go any faster, its for networking, not for the Internet itself. And according to Wikipedia, Starter Edition doesnt accept incoming network connections.

What that means I wouldnt have a clue. Most probably means you cant use a Ethernet connection or something.
