So why does anyone do it it? Goodwill is always a possibility, and not to be discounted. But I still think FoxyMX has the talents for being a mod, and that's a compliment, you do well at it, SB. | mark c (247) | ||
| 566648 | 2007-07-09 19:41:00 | I just find it interesting, that even knowing that Jan is stepping in to fill on for Bruce, and knowing we already have 2 fine mods in Jen and Chill, and the other one (editor), that people are still wanting yet another. Why? Is 3 1/2 not enough? Most forums I belong to only have 2 or 3 mods. We really don't need another. Also its like people are writing Jan off before he has even had a chance (by discounting him). IMHO, a moderators first job isn't to become everyones friend and make daily posts. A mods job is primarily to stay in the background and make sure the forum is running along smoothly, taking whatever actions are necessary to do so (i.e banning new threads that contravene the rules, or locking down old threads that become too unruly or whatever). Publc relations is a secondary part of the job, chit chat occassionally, ask or help if they can. |

| 566649 | 2007-07-09 20:08:00 | A better way to word this ...even knowing that Jan is stepping in to fill on for Bruce(with typo removed) would be ...even knowing that Jan is stepping in to fill the position left vacant by BruceJan will never be Bruce, and vice versa, both should be judged on their own merits/deficiencies (remembering however, before one must judge another, they should first be judging themselves) |
