Complacency and laziness are the main factors contributing to drop outs... as for the teacher who didn't teach very well, any decent student WOULD have complained until the problem is sorted... don't blame someone else just because people around you also do nothing... I'll be damned if I let some below par teacher screw around with MY future because they can't do their job well.

Drop-out are a problem

My cousin and I use to play alot when we were little. She attended high school and we would still keep in contact every now and then laugh alot

During her 4th form year she met a boy who became her boyfriend. She was 6 years older than him.had no qualification.Kinda greedy for money too who showers like once every month but she liked him eventually she was affected and left high school. Now my cousin and I don't even talk at all.We live seperate lives next. She works day and night gets really tired.Have financial problems.

I just saw her last week and she was sitting with a boy smoking at starbucks.

Changed.. alot over the years.I feel sad that she changed so much.
She has so changed..... and now she wants to study nurse at polytech but I don't think she can manage it because she just doesn't seem to have the energy to do anything

566567 2007-07-07 13:53:00 I never went to Uni... Yet I have a job in NZs 2nd largest IT company  (of course I do plan do get some qualifications such as the MCSE, MCSA, CCNA, CCNP etc that Chief said to go higher up in the company.)

Qualifications are not everything, experience plays a large role in it as well

You don't need qualification to survive but the occupation the person will get might remain steady for the rest of the person's life.Who would want to promote someone with no qualification vs qualification even if the person was hard working?

Lets see that made her about 14?
So he was 8?

No, as I said (and others have) EXPERIENCE you don't NEED qualifications if you have the experience of what the position requires and can prove to the employer that you are capable of doing to job you will seriously be considered. read techie's first post...

For example, I am a Technical Support Analyst (effectively 1st level help desk) if there was a position at the 2nd level help desk and I applied I would be seriously considered because I have experience in the software and systems that the 2nd level HD deals with so they would probably favor me over someone new with a degree who didn't know the software and systems. See how it works?

566570 2007-07-07 22:07:00 I think it can be a bit of both. Sometimes you need the knowledge gained from an IT certification to get you started and other jobs you just need to have prior experience and the willingness to learn on the job. It just depends on the skills that the job requires like help desk vs application developer. I guess it depends on what you spend your high school years doing. The theory would be that your doing the ground work in your field when your studying for a BSc in Computer Science, game development or 3D animation. winmacguy (3367)

566573 2007-07-08 01:41:00 I have read this entire thread with interest.

Way back when I was 15 years old I knew everything and my Father did not. When I was 21 I was amazed how much my Father had learned.

At the moment I still work but it is seasonal. I will have to take next Wednesday off to apply for my pension. Not on dole, sickness or any other benefit. I have been in the past.

Two years ago I achieved Level 3 NZQA. This means I am still prepared to learn.

As to Drugs I use nicotine and alcohol.

Never used others apart from the odd prescription one.
Goes off to check cupboard. Back again. See that I seldom use Diclorofenac sodium. Forty tablets issued 9/12/2005.
I still have around one third left.

Why not you may ask?
I saw a film at a very young age called "The Man with the golden arm." Frank Sinatra starred.

As tomorrow happens to be Monday I will get out of bed and pick up wood in the mud. Being paid for this at $13.50per hour.

566574 2007-07-08 04:33:00 During her 4th form year she met a boy who became her boyfriend . She was 6 years older than him . had no qualification . Kinda greedy for money too who showers like once every month but she liked him eventually she was affected and left high school . Now my cousin and I don't even talk at all . We live seperate lives next . She works day and night gets really tired . Have financial problems .

I just saw her last week and she was sitting with a boy smoking at starbucks .

Changed . . alot over the years . I feel sad that she changed so much .
She has so changed . . . . . and now she wants to study nurse at polytech but I don't think she can manage it because she just doesn't seem to have the energy to do anything:horrified Wow, that's scary, how can she meet a boy like that age, and do you make a lot of interruption before the relationship goes deeper(you know what I mean), I know it is hard but if you use the right technique it might work . I've seen it working too, I mean I saw one a girl(school) with a older boy, with no qualifications and suddenly break-up not because of cheating etc . It is a technique being used to break it apart .

And ninjabear, how old does she look like now? 40-50 yrs old?

I see going to Uni doesn't make you look great after all unless you've what it got to takes to make it there .
And back to topic, I've looked at several courses available on KiwiCareers . co . nz and not many suites me at all .

I think I might wanna consider creating web paging course . Is there any available? Or is it diploma/certificate only? :p I think I might wanna start my own business, are there many techs are qualified for computer fixing?

:thumbs:Thank you all for sharing the information for qualification or no qualification in real world .

OK, another question, is MCSE worth doing? I mean if you're qualified MCSE for W2K3 and there's a Vista server so you have to redo all again just for Vista MSCE? And how much does MCSE cost, I heard a tutor said it cost a lot to do it and it is just a certificate thing too .

I got CompTIA A+ Essentials Exam tomorrow, so I'll try to check in tomorrow if I can, back to study for me now .
