566476 2007-07-07 23:52:00 I saw that Cicero, it was a bit of a worry. Fat load of good NOD32 was for you, don't you think?

One has to wonder Foxy,it has been good up till then, about 8 months.

566477 2007-07-08 00:58:00 The only time I've tried Avast was for a client who has a file server and about 30 workstations.
Avast kept corrupting data for their accounting software so had to remove it.
This was the paid version and not the free one.

566478 2007-07-08 02:02:00 This time around the AMON protection option was disabled upon installation which has made a huge difference to using CardFile - it is no longer sluggish but as quick as it should be .

How do you manage to buy from a US site? When I click on the Purchase button I get redirected to the NZ site with NZ prices .

I disable DMON but leave AMON on .
You cancel the bossy redirection and click on Purchase - International sites . Pick one .

Are you sure you haven't got that around the wrong way? I have AMON disabled and DMON enabled . With AMON enabled my CardFile runs worse than someone trying to run up Baldwin Street with a thick coating of ice on it .

Yeah, I discovered that was the secret but had to do it pretty quick smart . .

AMON is the main activity scanner that is SHOULD always be running to protect you from viruses . It scans every file as it is used .
You might want to try enable AMON again but put your cardfile exe and data file in the exclusions list and see if that helps the speed problem .

566482 2007-07-08 10:05:00 I use avast free home edition and find it great, but I do have a cripe.

I installed it on a friends PC and ran it it found lots of viruses.

But...

Then I ran Trend micro Housecall and it found lots more that avast missed. What!!!
I tried to disinfect the computer with TM housecall but it could only remove a few.

So I installed AVG and that found the viruses TM Housecall found and removed some of them.

I had to manually remove the rest.

So I was a bit disappointed that Avast didn't find these viruses. Maybe the Pro version would have detected them, but still... AVG and TM did??

However I do still use avast. I like its update method as well.

AMON - file system monitor
DMON - MS Office document scanner
EMON - MS Outlook Scanner

I don't want it scanning MS anything . Files seemed a good idea to me .
I don't have a problem with it, whats your system specs???

566484 2007-07-09 04:12:00 Yep, I know what they are and what they do . I don't have a problem with Office stuff being scanned, they have not been slowed down . It's just CardFile that NOD has issues with .

System isn't grunty by today's standards but there's ample enough power for everything with an AMD Athlon64 3200 processor and 1GB DDR400 RAM .

Anyway, all is well now that I have sorted it out with CYaBro's suggestions .
