I don't mean to call you careless, but perhaps enlightening some of us (especially PedalSlammer considering that he has no idea about the courses in the first place) on the acronyms that you have mentioned in your post would be a good idea? Cheers :)Yeah, I have no idea what half those acronyms mean either lol. Pedalslammer, what courses you takes depends on what you are interested in. For me it is computer repair (I prefer hands on stuff), so with that in mind (and knowing very little) I signed up and did CompTIA A+. Passed convincingly and stayed on with the training place to do a few months unpaid work experience. Granted I no longer work in I.T. but I do find it is a good hobby to have (and occassionally brings in extra money too) :) Some places are now requiring MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer?) as well now (in this area anyway). |

| 566527 | 2007-07-07 00:45:00 | I wouldnt mind something in the IT / computer field, BUT I spose the only problem / setback, is I dont drive. Never had a car or licence. Well couldnt before anyway, due to medical reasons. Never needed one to get around. Public transport is outside the back door and across the road. Sounds like the only thing stopping you is your determination to progress. Just about every IT training centre in Auckland is on a bus route. Student or adult education loans - cost of living allowances are available to students. You just have to apply for them. Once you have got a qualification you can possibly set it up so that you could work from home - or - get yourself a drivers license unless your medical situation prevents that. |

| 566528 | 2007-07-07 02:33:00 | I'm already doing Comp TIA A+ Network+ & Technician. And I got A+ Technician exam soon. The problem is I've failed my high school NCEA lvl 3, maybe school was not for me and suffer a depression problem a bit(never visit a doctor, because maybe I'll be addicted to depression pills later), and now I feel a lot better outta school. Maybe I should ask my parents to sent me to another school that time. Computer Technician seems a bit too easy, and everyone can do it no problem. I just want something with the level. My tutor already explained to me I should go for further education since I've no much difficulty with the course. Yeah, the course was pretty simple and I'm the one who finished all the assignment first. I did well with NCEA lvl 1 because I was not having a depressing problem, and now I've to find ways to get rid of it. And maybe I can do a degree without that thing bugging around. :) I'm glad that I'm getting a new PC soon, so that I can do more research easily without much interruption. Yes, I already look at NZ universities, they're all like Programming Courses. Is Europe & America better? Because I wanna travel a bit and worried that other country will not recognised NZ training or qualifications. And I take a lot of advice from elders why bother working now? Since you're young study is a lot easier. Oh well, I look into overseas courses and ask my parents about that. Money? Yes, my parents aware of that too, they wanted me to do well. I'm very glad that all of you have put your effort into helping me and after what I've done. Thank you. And pirating? Yes, I don't think I wanna get involved except getting a job and earn it yourself not stealing. |

| 566529 | 2007-07-07 02:40:00 | or get yourself a drivers license unless your medical situation prevents that. It used to prevent me from driving, but doesnt now, I've been drug free for nearly 16 years... They were prescription drugs, which had side effects, one of them being memory loss, (I couldnt remember anything for longer than 5 mins). And could make u aggressive. And in the end, I stopped taking them, (they affected my work, and me), and I was glad never to take them again. But as already said, its just too expensive to buy a car then a licence then petrol and everything else. I cant be bothered... I've got better things to spend money on. I guess I could try something at home. Just as long as I dont have to pay for it, I cant afford it, as Im not working. And I dont really want to get a student loan. Ive got enough bills already. |

Get your IT Qualifications in NZ first. Our skills and standards are internationally certified. Your ability to get a job overseas will be determined by your IT skill sets gained in NZ and but your enthusiasm for doing any job that your asked to do. Once you have gotten your skills then you can take off overseas. The main thing you need to decide is what area of IT or computing you want to get into, do you want to do; Programming for systems, web, new media, applications, database developer Business IT analyst - good jobs overseas PC repair - no need to go overseas for this job game design - very good jobs available in NZ Hardware design good jobs mostly overseas. Web design- good jobs everywhere The only catch with living overseas is the difference in life style which can be good or bad. |

Should be no problem with Transports but there's a transport problem in North Shore which takes about 40min one bus. Yes, fuel is expensive, WOF is an expense, Road registration, car maintainence, etc cost money. :D Wow, no need to worry about buying stuffs these days, you can get courier as around $5 in Auckland, and foodtown/woolworth deliver the goods too. |

I've got better things to spend money on. Jap 2nd hand cars cost between $1000 - $5000 NZ and depending on the model are not that expensive to run. Moped would be cheaper and cheaper to run. Licensing doesn't actually cost that much if your earning a weekly wage or salary. The rest is down to having a positive mental outlook on life which can account for a lot:). |

Thats right I live in Mt Eden . Nothing wrong with the buses (when and if u have money that is ) :D Well Foodtown is ok we're in walking distance . And the bus route drops u off not too far from it . Well true I could use Foodtown online, BUT I dont use credit cards . Never have . Well, yer it would have been NICE to stay away from drugs, BUT I couldnt . I had NO option but to take them back then . But, was glad to chuck em in the bin after 24-25 yrs . |

It just that I've to take out a long of unnecessary words and paragraphs . So have to check at least three times myself before handing it in . I know this thing from racing games as well, I hate long laps, once it just got too long I'll come in third of fourth . Just wonder how can I concentrate for long hours without much interruptions . Getting a new system with tons of Web pages opened should not be much problem, I've been struggling with old P4 1 . 6Ghz computer, still trying to improve PC performance . And sometimes it hangs for no reason but now I use Diskeeper for auto-defrag . Plus I'll be using some freeware too, testing it and is it worth using it or not . A new system with more power is easier to do work . Maybe we should start a freeware topic later . If I have a diploma in IT I can get into any IT courses at Uni? |
