1416705 2016-02-29 09:10:00 Hi All

W10 doesn't seem to have a media player, is that right?

I would like to copy some of my CDs into My Music as a backup. PJ

1416706 2016-02-29 09:37:00 It certainly does unless you have the K or N versions ( which I doubt you have)

In the search next to the start button, type in media player - it should appear.

1416707 2016-02-29 17:50:00 When you find it, right click and you can choose to pin it to the start menu or taskbar so it's easier to find next time. dugimodo (138)
1416708 2016-02-29 21:37:00 I don't see where I can copy my legal discs onto My Music on the hard drive. PJ Poppa John (284)
1416709 2016-02-29 22:09:00 There should be a tab along the top for ripping CD's, also pays to go into the settings and pick the codec & bitrate to your preference the first time.
I'd have a look to give better instructions but our work PC's are still running XP. There are also plenty of free ripping tools available, I'm sure you can get some suggestions here for what's a good one. I forget the name of mine but I paid for it to get all the features I wanted so you probably don't want it anyway. Something like Audacity perhaps.

1416710 2016-02-29 22:25:00 It should be right at the top.

Just got back from some jobs, having a silly moment - didn't have my morning cuppa :( opening Windows Media player to check, thought I'd see what Cortana could do-you could really get lazy with this feature ;)

Cortana & media Player (screencast.com) :D The audio is a lot better than hearing, the Mic I have is crap.

Once opened I put in a Music CD, and the options are right there, to rip, change settings and formats, locations etc

PJ can you take a screen shot of what you see when you have Media Player open with a CD in the drive, it may just need to change a couple of settings.

Taking a screen shot in W10 is very easy, simply press the "Print Screen" Key, you should get a message pop up asking if you want to save to One drive - agree/yes, then go into your One Drive folder (in your Name Folder) there will be a pictures folder as well as a new screen shot folder- which is where the picture will be.

Edited: if by some chance you are seeing similar to the picture, clcik on the four squares top right ( arrow) and you'll see all the functions / different layout.
