1410891 2015-11-03 20:16:00 Hi all

We are currently looking for another larger vehicle. 7-8 seater.
We like the look of nissan serena"s an toyota estima's.
We dont like odysseys. They are hard to get car seats in an out an not so easy for adults in the back.
Budget about 7-8 thous.

Any suggestions or input welcome

Thanks

1410892 2015-11-03 20:32:00 I think a lot of a newer Serenas have a CVT transmission? If that's the case then I'd definitely go for an Estima. Think the Serenas are pretty sluggish too, that's a lot of car for a 2l engine to lug around.

Something like that

1410894 2015-11-03 20:45:00 Continuously variable transmission.
Very clever.
Got one in our current vehicle.

Go for a Toyota Estima.
Great vehicle, done many k's in one of those

Maybe a brand new one, when you service it correctly. On an older (and heavier) vehicle with no service history, hell to the no. ;)

Parents had an Estima and had an excellent run with it. As people movers go, they are pretty good.

1410897 2015-11-03 22:17:00 My work Corolla had a CVT, worked fine and very economical but I really don't like the way it feels when accelerating hard from stationary or up a hill, feels much like a badly slipping clutch on a manual with a lot of revs and not much actual acceleration. The throttle feels disconnected from the wheels. Apparently in newer models they apply some wizardry to make them feel more like conventional auto's

Never owned a people mover myself but friends have an old estima that's been thrashed for years and still going strong and another friend had a mazda MPV he really liked.

Of course you could go the obnoxious route and get a large 4WD because it's "cooler". Never understood the stigma some people put on people movers.

1410898 2015-11-03 22:38:00 We already own one of those obnoxious 4wd's lol we have a suzuki escudo. Pity it wasnt the 7 seater model :) then we wouldnnt be in the same boat we are now :) beetle (243)
1410899 2015-11-03 22:49:00 Do you have expanding family syndrome? Driftwood (5551)
1410900 2015-11-03 22:54:00 Not me personally. But more grandchildren expectdd yes. An as we all reside at same adress an currently share a vehicle which will soon be not enough seats for us to be in all at once. Seems logical to get a bigger vehicle an not have to take 2 every where. beetle (243)
