1410532 2015-10-27 22:57:00 Where is the best deal on windows10 or is it best to buy 8.1 & upgrade? Driftwood (5551)
1410533 2015-10-27 23:52:00 The best deal is to upgrade an existing previous OS. if you have to buy, then may as well go for W10 straight away, its the same price as 8.1

The only real difference is if you got 8.1 and then upgraded, and decided you dont like W10 then you can always put 8.1 back.

1410534 2015-10-28 00:27:00 I've seen windows 8.1 as low as $150 but never seen windows 10 under $175 or so.
www.pp.co.nz is $157 for example. Maybe you have better suppliers than me though.

It is more mucking about installing windows then upgrading it though, for pure convenience I wouldn't bother buying 8.1 now myself.

1410535 2015-10-28 06:45:00 Looks like win10 is the way to go then.
Are they all on USB now or can you still get a DVD version.

1410538 2015-10-28 18:31:00 You can get it on either disk or USB, or download if you buy direct from MS.
I bought the USB version, it installs much faster that way and I don't have an optical drive.

1410540 2015-10-28 19:08:00 jump on 10565 Windows Insider Preview and stay on preview in perpetuity

10565 is also the first version that you can clean install and enter your Win7, 8, 8.1 product key, or have that key read from the PC BIOS/UEFI firmwares

blogs.windows.com YEahhhhhhhhh ;) The Insider preview of 10565 is still testing, its a little too unstable really for main stream. Some don't have any problems, others are pulling their hair out with all the problems.

If using a existing key Via a clean install, I'd wait till it actually comes out to the general public as a upgrade, no doubt will be a higher build, should be more stable by then.
