| 1411314 | 2015-11-14 00:16:00 | Yep I think that's the conclusion I had and why I couldn't figure out the big fuss. I have a friend who was sexually abused once, I asked her today, she couldn't see the connection either and thought it was the women MPs who had the problem. Even Fairfax reported (bold italics mine): At least a dozen female MPs either walked out in protest or were ejected by Speaker David Carter after he turned off their microphones to prevent them from being heard. Speaking to Radio Live, Boag said the MPs had made it all about them instead of dealing with the issues facing detainees. I was a bit disgusted by those women standing up and parading their victimhood as if it was something special. Boag said most women she knew had been the victims of sexual assault in some way, but did not get the opportunity to share their experiences publicly. Every other woman in New Zealand in New Zealand whos been the subject of a sexual assault doesnt get the opportunity to do that. They werent say, Look, if youve had these issues, here are all the people you can go to for help, they were standing up and saying, Poor me. Hear, hear. A political statement by these "Poor Me's' if ever there was one. |

| 1411317 | 2015-11-14 02:33:00 | Did you listen to Barry Soper's comments? If not then please do, Listen to what he says . No , simply because talks so much about different topics, and even doing a Google search doesn't bring up anything relating to the point being made . Not spending hours looking for something that may not exist . So Please provide a link to the above asked Question that you are referring to . Please dont reply back I should look - I provided links to what I was referring to , please do the same . If you cant then who's to say its only hear-Say or opinion ? As far as I 'm concerned that video Posted key says he was the guy, unless of course hes talking Bull **** . |

| 1411318 | 2015-11-15 22:43:00 | I'm with pctek, I don't understand it either. Let's do a quick re-cap: - Key was wrong, they weren't rapists, but they have been guilty of indecent assault, assault with a deadly weapon, manslaughter, armed robbery and more. Wainuitech was right, he added the word for additional emotive support, definitely exaggerated about them specifically being "rapists", but still generally correct that they're basically really bad people, and correct that Labour / Greens are wanting to "support" the "bad people". - Greens / Labour are left-wing parties, National is a right-wing party, their respective stances are completely understandable and shouldn't be a surprise to anybody - Greens / Labour wanted to use Keys particular wording to force him to apologize and score brownie points with the general public - Speaker of the House wouldn't force Key to apologize - Certain female MPs thought sharing that they had been sexually abused would make their "offense" more valid - Certain female MPs wouldn't stop when they'd been ordered by the Speaker of the House, and as such one was asked to remove themselves (That new Green MP, I forget her name). Others got up and left of their own accord at the same time. - It's still not a requirement that you apologize in parliament if somebody is offended by what you've said - Were the MP victims of sexual assault truly being selfless, trying to be role models, trying to stand up for other victims, they would have stood up and promoted something like White Ribbon Day, mentions of Womens Refuge. Not once was anything other than "me" mentioned. tl;dr still doesn't make sense to anybody that isn't sipping on their favorite parties cool-aide :-/ |
