| 1410913 | 2015-11-05 08:30:00 | SUV's seem to more prevalent around east/south Auckland. Seem to be taking over from Toyota RAV's and Honda CRV's and Crossovers. Some are imposing, and stylish, and include from nearly every car manufacturer, including Jeep. Don't know about cabin space room, maybe smaller than say MPV's. About MPV's, I have noticed USA made ones, though in small numbers, similar to Mazda MPV and Toyota Estima. These are the Chevy Venture and Chrysler Voyager. I have had 3 large vans, pain to clean, to parallel park, to access engine for maintenance/work, and for turning - just remember there is the rest of the body length. I crunched the side of a L300 van, against a petrol pump "bull bar", when I first visited the pump with the van - after using that pump for years in a smaller vehicle. Forgot about the total length," turning in" as I always did with my previous vehicle. |

I don't think it's the length that catches people out with drivng Vans for the first time, it's sitting on top of the turning wheels when you are used to being behind them. Van's turn from the drivers position, cars turn from quite a bit further forward. This means a common error is to turn too soon like you would in a car instead of pulling forward until the turning wheels are where they should be. Doesn't take long to get used to. I drove a long wheelbase hiace Van for work for years and never had an issue with parking or turning the thing. |

Yeah makes sense what you say, not parking/forward enough, easy not to do if in a hurry. |
