| 1481166 | 2021-10-07 04:54:00 | Hello, for some unknown reason my browsers have stopped working....Avast, Brave and Vivaldi. They just will not start. I have reinstalled them - no go. So I did a system restore and that worked for a while... but now they no longer respond. The only browser that works is Edge (my least favourite browser) I wasn't playing with anything on the computer...honest. Went to get a coffee and they stopped. Running Windows 10 (latest) 64 bit. Any help would be very welcome. Cheers  | ruup (1827) | ||
| 1481167 | 2021-10-07 05:16:00 | for some unknown reason my browsers have stopped working....Avast, Brave and Vivaldi. Out of the three I only have Vivaldi, and that works prefectly fine (upto date W10) Avast - :yuck: That alone somtimes causes more problems than anything else, usually when customers have problems thats the 1st thing to come out ( fully) and theres a high percentage of the time the problems disappear. Avast has all sorts of "hidden" goodies, like VPN's that start without permissions etc. Sometimes Avast breaks causing all sorts of side effects. Only a Suggestion --- uninstall Avast 1st, then see what still is broken. Came across a easy to use removal tool today work really well https://geekuninstaller.com/ Tried the Free version of course :D , it doesn't install, all you do (simple way) run it, select the program you want to remove, then right click it, force Removal, this removes all folders and reg entries that may standard programs leave behind. Heres a hint from working with thousands of computers -- When fixing like described, I remove any of the free Antivirus software (and some paid like Crapafee - Sorry, mcafee) and its amazing how many problems are solved right away. Your Problem is NOT Microsoft. |

| 1481168 | 2021-10-07 05:25:00 | Thanks wainuitech. I like 3 browsers as I use them for different purposes. Avast for banking, brave for general use, vivaldi to visit sites that MUST have adverts enabled. I have uninstalled all three now. Running of edge l0l. Will run Privazer to clean up and will try reinstalling again. I have a back up which I could try, but really is puzzling. Thanks for the reply. Cheers | ruup (1827) | ||

Only 3 :D I got 6 on this, similar usage, different browsers for different things or just what takes the fancy at the time. As for privacy on line. There is a series we are watching called "Bizarre Murders" (always funny), some of its really weird, based on actual real Murders. The guy whose telling the stories is a ex FBI agent, in one episode, where someone tries to hide his tracks on line, the FBI Agent says (words to this effect) "Its a Myth that you can hide and be anonymous, Trust me, as a FBI Agent I can tell you, it doesn't matter what you do, you CAN be tracked on the internet, there is NO SUCH thing as complete privacy" As for Avast Browser being Private -- FORGET it, its not. You know the "I Accept" you generally click and no one ever reads when installing ? In their own terms and conditions they openly state they collect your data and can pass it onto partners which you authorized them to do. |

| 1481172 | 2021-10-13 01:50:00 | make sure your updates are done. There has been an update to the Local certificate store and if its not done what you are describing will happen. It does not effect FF because FF has its own Certificate store. Most browsers use a microsoft shared certificate store. (local machine) | beama (111) | ||

(local machine) thats a real issue for those still still using XP , they are still out there :banana Then drama's when I tell them tuff luck with IE & XP (the guy had a newer laptop he could of used ) . I guess Win7 will eventually have the same issue . |
