2022-01-16 20:50:00 | It was nothing to do with health or safety but the bloody minded political Ozzy government who was going to get rid of him regardless what the first Ozzy court said. | paulw (1826) | |
2022-01-16 20:57:00 | Everyone in every country of the world needs to be vaccinated to slow down the development of variants, this is a civic duty and not a choice, only very few have a good excuse to not be vaccinated. Unless this happens we will not overcome the virus and its manifestations and even then it may require another specialized vaccine or two in the end.

2022-01-16 23:04:00 | To re-iterate, bats in general have the most active and powerful mammalian immune system, this is due to the fine tuning necessary to deal with what is known as the Covid virus which is endemic in some bat species, at the same time the virus has modified and "improved" its capabilities to infect bats as required by each change to the bat's immune system. This is what has made the virus so capable of producing new variants. So we basically have a disease which has many abilities to infect and modify itself to suit changes in immune systems and vaccines it comes up against in its life. A formidable opponent, as it has proved to be so far. It has had many generations of bats to adjust itself against. The bats live at the top of caves, heat rises, in an up-welling cloud of virus, I knew it would be airborne long before this was mentioned by the experts. Rising up in the centre of the caves and back down the side walls. That's why small confined rooms are dangerous for us, depending how many are in the room raises the viral count.

2022-01-16 23:21:00 | so if it can mutate regularly, how will they keep up with the vaccines for the specific new modified version of virus, its not going to be a one size fits all scenario a? so how are they keeping up with each new outbreak ? if they have been infected once......... does that not mean immunity and less likely to get it again ?

2022-01-17 00:35:00 | They try to target a vulnerability in the virus that has commonalities between variants like the way it attaches itself to cells for instance, but in part, as I understand it, this is the reason why there is not a vaccine for the common cold because of the difficulty of guarding against variants, definitely this is true with the yearly flu's which you'll notice we haven't had because everybody is wearing masks and taking precautions, first time ever we haven't had a flu season. I think Omicron is far more infectious than the flu or common cold, that gives you some idea what we might be up against. I have read accounts from people overseas who have successfully avoided getting the original and Delta variant but have got the Omicron variant and they don't know how, even being boosted and fully vaxed and taking all precautions as before. The point is you get the virus but don't get as sick if your vaccines are up to date, avoiding hospitalization. Think of a person who gets sick with covid but is not vaccinated and takes a hospital space from someone who has cancer or whatever, this is happening overseas. People a re very angry over it because someone did not get vaccinated for whatever reason and has now deprived someone else of a needed hospital bed.

2022-01-17 05:24:00 | I see that the Serb PM say that Djokovic was mentally tortured by the Australian govt. Yeah, nah, you have to have a functional brain for that to happen. Djokovic has proved he hasn't got one of those! Ken :) ;)
