| 1484202 | 2022-02-10 04:41:00 | Stove top fires we used to chuck an old sack on it and drink a cuppa while it cooled down . Oven fires, get your face below the oven door and chuck a handful of Sodium Bicarb in . Leave to cool, have a cuppa . (Head down as most oven fires flare up when you open the door . ) Er . . . . these days sacks are plastic . What if you don't have any bicarbonate? I don't, never use the stuff . |

| 1484203 | 2022-02-10 04:50:00 | Old towel . You did the right thing but then, you had a correct sized lid . If you hadn't had one, you just have to exclude oxygen then let it cool down Buy some bicarb if you plan to have an oven fire! We have it in our pantry for odd cooking jobs . I'm just telling you what we used to do . Up to you now . Ken ;) |

Ken yes absolutely. i've used a big lid before, but thats when its small. once it gets away and sets other things on fire, thats when extinguisher starts to come in handy. especially as the front door is near the stove. |

Up to you now. Ken ;) I know!! I'm just saying....everything is bloody plastic nowdays. It's why houses go up in seconds like petrol. Yep, lidded pan, I grabbed it out of the cupboard.......I plan not to have an oven fire. Yes plans fail...but we don't cook much in it that would likely catch fire, as in fats or oils. I have an airfryer now. The frypan, well a rare occasion of fish.......a bit of oil in it. The one thing you never leave so yes bad me. Stupid. God knows why I did that. |
