| 1483434 | 2022-01-12 23:12:00 | Geez, what's left in free? Bitdefender have now discontinued support for their free product . That worked really well (except for a RDC blocking bug) There is Panda free AV . Seems OK . Not full of bloatware . It doesnt constantly nag to upgrade to payware like some free AV does (its on my work PC , as NOD kept corrupting on that PC) Kasperky Free cloud AV : havnt tried it , but have used free Kasperky AV in the past . Generally good detection rates Windows defender, also free . Free AV often wont scan incoming email, and thats where most of the malware starts . NOD does scan incoming email . Sophos also have a Free AV (or did last time I checked) |

It's pretty obvious, Gmail puts it straight to spam, if I want to see any I have to go onto their server and look in the spam folder. I would still recommend NOD, it's hardly a fortune to renew each year. I insisted my son (on Windows) install it and renew each year. It's worked so far. |

It's pretty obvious, Gmail puts it straight to spam, Why would anyone make a human mistake.......it happens Many people open emails that look genuine but are dodgy . Thats the way they get infected with crypto malware . NO spam filter is perfect, some malicious email gets past 365,xtra,gmail etc etc . having an extra layer of protection : AV scanning emails , is really important . |

| 1483437 | 2022-01-16 21:39:00 | And with a good enough security exploit in the email client you could even get the email to deliver some kind of payload to the computer without the email needing to be viewed by the user at all. Not as likely, but possible. |

Not as likely, but possible. that sort of did happen with Outlook , way back. Just the Outlook preview pane was enough to infect PC's ( untill Outlook was patched ) |

| 1483440 | 2022-01-18 03:34:00 | I had a recent run of Gmail putting emails from my wife and others in my address book to spam. Its stopped again now so must have been glitch in their algorithm for a week or two | gary67 (56) | ||
| 1483441 | 2022-01-19 03:53:00 | An interesting video evaluation of norton crypto , from Linus Tech Tips . And some basics of crypto mining . www.youtube.com "Norton Crypto. It's EVEN WORSE than you think...." - nortons cryto fees are way above average - easy to enable, hard to remove . Well thats the Norton Way - Norton users wont known that mining could possibly cost more in power than they get back . I hadnt though about what it could do to laptops , long term : having laptops running crypto mining and and running hotter than is good for it . Many laptops come pre-installed with Norton, so thats an issue . It also could be an incentive to renew Norton , rather than remove . Dont loose your crypto $, better renew Norton :badpc: |
