Thoughts? I completed their survey (MBIE website)

I agree, more tax. Don't we have one already? It's called Jobseekers....or Supported Living.
So what are they saying...
A)WInz isn't fit for purpose, agree there...
B)We want to limit time spent on it.....agree they like that too.

So if it's INSTEAD of the dole, ok, but it can't replace Supported Living...not with a time limit.
So comparing to ACC, that started well and has turned into a Get Out Of Paying at all costs piece of ****. (This pot of money would be administered by ACC and paid out by them)
Took my friend 8 years, with surgeon admitting fault, to win her case.

I can see similar results, excuses to not pay, excuses to cancel.
More tax off those who may not ever need it too, and taking money away when they do need it, in the case of the lower paid people.

Other countries do the Govt says, yes, but other countries don't have WINZ or ACC......

Why not just fix winz.
Alter Jobseekers if need be...and increase Supported Living. My brother had 2 jobs in his life, he's screwed now, not only can he barely see, he can't use his hands properly either. That leaves bugger all he can do.

He gets $316 a week. Impossible to pay the bills, with no rent or mortgage too, on his own, I've done the figures numerous times.

1484065 2022-02-03 00:11:00 You need to remember the hidden agenda of National and in fact all right wing businessmen is to get rid of the dole and welfare support so we can live in a paradise like America where poor people really struggle to keep going and stay alive whilst pursuing the American Dream LoL.

National Party members would gladly see all poor people on their knees sweating for every dollar and working all hours for a pittance, next to go will be the 40 hour week.

We've already lost our Unions and Award Wages allowances. UNITED, WE STAND; DIVIDED, WE FALL.

1484066 2022-02-03 04:37:00 reality is that govt will collect a lot of tax, and as people do not often get made redundant etc, they will have a nice big cash pile to sit on. but more than likely the piggy bank will get used elsewhere.
catch is when there is a recession way to many people will be made redundant and govt will not have the money. same problem in CHCH with insurance.
plus the added insult of of it being admin by ACC who are notorious for rejecting claims and dragging out payments.
so overall its only a tax grab is disguise.

then there is the social impacts that low income earners are already struggling, taking away more of their pay is going to hurt massively.

one other thing to keep in mind is that it would really help people keep their overpriced houses. this would further support increasing house prices.
it does away with people loosing jobs and forced to sell their home, which means they can take on more risk. which in turn keeps the housing bubble growing.

this trick has been done before.

edit: i forgot, unless they have changed it, ACC run on the format that the next year tax pays for this years payments. so when a recession hits expect that 1.39% tax to go through the roof.

1484068 2022-02-03 05:40:00 I can see a lot of 64 year olds asking to be made redundant in the future so they can claim what they have paid just before retirement. I would consider doing just that or face losing my own money that they have tried to steal yet again. gary67 (56)
1484069 2022-02-03 05:55:00 It's New Labour, I think National will get back in next election and this will be the least of our troubles. zqwerty (97)

We've lost the 40 hour week as well. Leaving many employees working ridiculous hours , some even 7 days a week .
We have full time jobs now being you work and get paid only when we need you , and no guarantee of a full week .
many dont get paid for overtime , including weekends , but have wages deducted if need to take 1/2 a day off .

Anyway, its a good idea.
It will be stuffed up by bureaucracy & govt departments with too many involved in a power trip . Just like ACC .
And the levy/tax/deductions will go up over the years .

1484071 2022-02-03 21:20:00 It is another idea that sounds good politically but in practical terms it is just another tax on both workers and employers. CliveM (6007)

Im not so sure (it will be closer though) .
So many are on some sort of govt handout, they wont risk loosing that by voting Nat .
Nat has to capture the vote of the average working guy/gal. They cant do that if perceived as supporting business rather than the average person .
Muldoon knew that . :-)
