| 1480888 | 2021-09-28 02:38:00 | Bought a 'not working' Dell Optiflex 9010 for $20. :D Plugged in all the cables, pressed the Power switch, the fan spins ... no display, nothing happens other fan spinning ... I then disconnected the HDD, Optical drive, etc;, left only the KB, mouse and Monitor, still no joy. Could be a dead PSU, so I connected a 'known-to-be good' PSU to try my luck., same results ... Can't test the RAM as I don't have a spare stick. It has got a 250GB SSD. hope it is not dead, too. :D. otherwise, my $20 has vanished. What next should I check? |

| 1480889 | 2021-09-28 02:52:00 | a few clutching at straws options :) disconnect any front USB cables check USB ports for damage (they can short out if damaged) can have stuck power/reset buttons (almost never though) . Disconnect all the MB's switch, LED , poweron , reset cables. Start with a paperclip across the 2 power on pins (on the mb) try installing a video card . Try a new CMOS batt (if it has one) apart from new RAM, you've done allmost all you can . Thats the Reason it was $20 I guess . SSD is worth $20 though . Do the kb LEDS light up , if you push num/caps lock ? |

| 1480892 | 2021-09-28 07:39:00 | I'd remove the RAM, and the CMOS battery, and leave it sitting unpowered for 30 mins, then try again. Images online show versions with the old PS2 plugs. It used to be that machines would get snarky if these weren't populated. Do you have an old PS2 keyboard? |

| 1480893 | 2021-09-28 10:01:00 | Measure the standard voltages coming off the power supply, ie 12Volts, 5 volts, 3.3, -12, -5 are present. Make sure the video card or video output is connected to a monitor correctly. |

| 1480894 | 2021-09-28 22:15:00 | I just managed to get hold of a good stick of RAM, removed the 2 existing RAM, inserted the 'new' stick. still the same.... One more piece of info to add: When the power cord is inserted, the fan starts to spin, sometimes, it spins for a few seconds then stops and restarts again. |
