| 568565 | 2007-07-12 23:23:00 | I Have Microsoft Dot.net 1, 1a, 2 and 3 installed on my computer. I get a message a Critical update is ready for 2. I click on install. After a while I get a message."Can not install".I click on cancel. Two minutes later I get the same message. I click cancel. It leaves the icon on my task bar and every few minutes it asks if I want to install it. So, as I don't need 2 I try to uninstall it. Up pops the message, Can't uninstall. Do I want to tell Microsoft about it? So I turn off automatic updates. This stops it's nonsense. But now I have the red icon with the dire warning, my computer might not be safe with updates turned off. Anyone got any idea how I can ger rid of this nonsense. As a last resort I will try and uninstall all of dot.net and then reinstall 1 & 3.If they will uninstall ! |

| 568566 | 2007-07-12 23:28:00 | Dot net is a bugger. The easiest thing is to do a 'advanced' install, hide the update and then turn off automatic updates, go into the AU properties and tell it to not notify you that AU is turned off. I have tried and tried to solve dot net not installing problems but never succeded.:badpc: It would be worth uninstalling all dot net stuff and try a reinstall of dot net, but from expreience the problem just comes back. | wratterus (105) | ||

And the only way you can fix it is to reinstall Windows. I made the mistake once of uninstalling 1.1. And then the stupid ATI drivers needed v2. You guessed it, 2 wouldnt install because 1.1 wasnt installed. And 2 refused to install. In the end, I had no choice but to reformat to fix it. |
