568368 2007-07-12 05:03:00 You may remember I've been on here quite a bit in the past asking for help on various problems...well yesterday I did a complete reinstall of Windows to start fresh! Now all my Update problems and other annoying bugs are gone, and I can go from scratch again.

I've already got the latest versions of CCleaner, Ad-Aware 2007, AVG7, HijackThis, RegCure, Trojan Remover, Spybot, and Windows Defender, so is there anything else that you recommend I do Speedy? (downloads, installs..etc.)

Thanks.

What will it do exactly, and how do I do it?

568371 2007-07-12 05:23:00 Start>Run type in cmd and hit eneter button, at the dos promt type 'wuauclt' (without the quote marks) and hit enter key.

This to start off the window update check straight away.

568372 2007-07-12 05:30:00 I'm only using Avast, Trojan remover, and Rogueremover.

Yer dont get too carried away with anti-spyware programs.

I wouldnt bother with Ad-aware 2007.

I've read it's worse than 2006, its buggy and slow.

Or Windows defender.

The main thing is to keep up to date with XP / Windows updates.

And install a better firewall than XP's.

Yep, fair enough .
Ad-aware is okay, but its really just asking you to fork out and upgrade to the Pro version .
I was told to use Windows Defender because "it is constantly scanning", so I'm just going with what they said . . .

And yes, now I can keep up with the updates . There are a few I don't want/need to get though .

568376 2007-07-12 09:48:00 It's crappy, I have deleted it from my computer. Lavasoft needs to get their act together. zqwerty (97)

Lavasoft must have an ex Symantec employee working for them.

Just to make things worse, they've decided to put their crap in something else
