568882 2007-07-14 01:09:00 May I know the PSU output? I mean the real output. i.e. like this page www.silverstonetek.com
I need to see Combined +12V on that OP750 is 720W/ 60A.

Maybe the PSU problem, can you borrow someone's PSU and try and see what happens? The Pentium D requires quite an amount of power to run, so I think the PSU is not supply enough power. Just my thought but can have a try and see what happens since you got a decent PSU.

How could my usb stuff be pluged in incorectly? They are all in the back ports, we did have a bit of trouble finding the righ place to plug in the conections for the front ports thow when installing the board, but I do not use them much anyway, only for flash drives.

Im begining to think its the USB drivers, yet that doesn't explain the strange start manu locking up on me when trying to conect to the net.. hmm any diagnostics or tests I can run to see if its the USB devices?

Thanks
James
You don't need these items. They're not malicious but they are unnecessary. And having processes running is not the same thing as having applications open.
Theres all sorts of stuff that goes on in the background without you being aware of it.

You could unplug the front USB connectors from the motherboard. If you have them wrong it can cause odd problems.
Whether they are in use or not.

568885 2007-07-14 06:56:00 Don't know what the PSU output is . . But I do know its the "golden" brand (not so good?) and is 450W .

Im still woundering about the fact that it didn't lock up once all night with out the USB devices, it just locked up again twice, or better way to describe it is "freeze" in the last two hours, and thats without the headset, just the joystick .

So should I need to install the siatek stick drivers? As I said when I had them installed I got less than 10fps in stuters . .

Thanks
James

568886 2007-07-14 07:35:00 Drivel.Sure prove me that you're a CompTIA A+ qualified technician then. Certificate issued in 1993? 2000? 2002?

James,
Can you borrow a more powerful PSU? All I say borrow a good brand PSU around 500W and see what happens.
What do you see here the difference between OP750 and ST75F? They both the 750W PSU, but the OP750 produces around 720W and ST75F below 700W.

ST75F

What do you see?

Run a stress testing program like Prime 95 Orthos (sp2004.fre3.com) or even better 3D Mark 06 if these do not produce the issue then chances are it is not PSU...

It is also possible that the drivers are conflicting... so latest drivers might help if that is the case.

568888 2007-07-14 08:13:00 Hi there,

I two very nice PSUs . :P

One of witch has a "combined +12V" around 70ws more than the other, and some other specs too, so the OP750 is better . How much would one these set me back? I don't really know anyone that I can "burrow" a PSU off sadly, anyway I can prove its the powersupply?

So yeah I can see what you mean there, those to same "750W" yet one is much more powerful than the other, possibly problem with mine then ae .

Thanks again
James

Guess I'm an idiot then.

568890 2007-07-14 09:00:00 Sorry I only have Polytech and Microsoft qulaifications .
Guess I'm an idiot then . You're not an idiot of course . But CompTIA is pretty hard to be true, but hey even you got Microsoft and Polytech I wouldn't recommend you to sit the exam like this, it hard man the first one is real real hard more theory than you thought .

And James, back to your problem . OP750 cost around $250+ so I wouldn't recommend you that because it is more than you need . The problem with cheap PSU is they don't publish the true facts, sure everyone can said it is a 750W but it is not what you think it is . Yours for example "Golden" might stated 450W but what's the actual reading 350W?

May I suggest you to try this?
. co . nz/shop/step1 . php?number=6353" target="_blank">c1com . co . nz For around $130+ and I wouldn't recommend other brand because their source is not reliable .

And here's the specs:
. silverstonetek . com/products/p_spec . php?pno=st50ef-plus&area=usa" target="_blank">www . silverstonetek . com
Can you see what's the difference? I mean others are trying to disrupt me from helping, if it works prove them wrong . The 500W actually produces around 430W+ . See?
